Smith, who plays Lloyd, is an expert in the rodeo world
Story
A Montana ranching family faces off against others encroaching on their land. Forrie J. John Dutton (Kevin Costner) seems to frequently “forget” his Montana accent and reverts to the Southern California voice he often uses.
I completed the first episode of the first season last night, it’s almost 90 minutes long
Featured on WatchMojo: Top 10 Summer TV Shows Not on Your Radar (2018) This series has been on the air since 2018, but this is my first time watching it. As for introducing the Dutton family, we see that they have a powerful influence in their valley, but they defend themselves from “attacks.” One from developers who want to build condos. Another from the neighboring Native reservation looking to reclaim some of their land and some cattle.
To help deal with all that and the sprawling size of his ranch, Dutton (played authentically by 60-something Kevin Costner) has several grown cowboy sons and a helicopter with a dedicated pilot
The reason I watched episode one of season one (on Peacock streaming) was to get a sense of the Dutton family because I’m currently watching all ten episodes of Taylor Sheridan’s newest show „1883,“ which is a prequel of sorts. It was (fictionally) in 1883 that the Dutton family from Tennessee joined a larger group to travel by wagon train from Fort Worth Texas to „somewhere out West.“ They must have stopped when they got to Montana. Again, it’s all fiction, but if you look at the men’s ages and the fact that Costner was born in 1955, his character would likely be the great-great-grandson of the Dutton patriarch (played by Tim McGraw) in „1883.“ For example, with children born around 1875, 1900, 1925, and the 1950s.
Now that I’m 70, I prefer to spend my time watching “enjoyable” stories
“Yellowstone” is a really good series, the actors are all top notch, the cinematography and sound are excellent. It’s just not the kind of show I could get invested in and keep watching. It’s hard to find characters with redeeming qualities, and I don’t really enjoy long-term shows that constantly focus on arguments and fights, and often murder.

NB: “1883” is a really good and interesting series, authentically depicting the sheer difficulty of pulling up roots and traveling through unfamiliar territory to try to find a new life in a new place. A new season of “Silo” is one of the biggest TV and streaming premieres this month.
