She tried so hard though
Story
At a retreat in Morocco, a woman meets a young man whose acquaintance turns into a heady, life-changing love affair. Wassulu DonWritten & Performed by Oumou Sangare of World Circuit Limited, a BMG Company. Lonely Planet Of course I expected as much from Laura Dern. And she didn’t really disappoint me, it’s just a script that doesn’t give her much room to show any depth of her character, if any.
I don’t mind chemistry and age difference
I love the first part of the movie, the slow burn, the introduction part. They were helped a lot by the beautiful landscapes and backdrops of Morocco. It’s certainly not a lonely planet with repeated overcrowded markets. They could stick around as good friends who support each other through adversity, it won’t change the story (but probably won’t sell).
After that, the movie went downhill
Even the sex scene was unnecessary and awkward. The girlfriend is so annoying, if it’s because of the script, then she nailed her role. She could still keep her spying voice down. The famous writer who didn’t support her 2 years of writing?
In this age and time?
She uses a MacBook, but everything should be in iCloud. They don’t do a very good job of convincing us. And again in the crazy reunion scene. Watch it if you want a virtual tour of Morocco (and Liam Hemsworth’s body).
You won’t be missing much if you don’t watch it either
